The Federal Aviation Administration and United Airways are investigating after a video surfaced displaying an unauthorized individual within the pilot’s seat throughout a flight chartered by the Colorado Rockies baseball workforce earlier this month.
United Airways stated it eliminated at the very least two of its pilots from the job in response to the incident, which befell on April 10 on a flight from Denver to Toronto.
“We’re deeply disturbed by what we see in that video, which seems to point out an unauthorized individual within the flight deck at cruise altitude whereas the autopilot was engaged,” United Airways stated in an announcement.
“As a transparent violation of our security and operational insurance policies, we’ve reported the incident to the FAA and have withheld the pilots from service whereas we conduct an investigation.”
The FAA has opened an investigation into the incident and informed CNN it should “not touch upon the main points of open investigations.”
“Federal laws limit flight deck entry to particular people,” the FAA stated.
