Armenia Proposes Ceasefire Violation Investigation Mechanism to Azerbaijan

Yerevan – Armenia has formally proposed to Azerbaijan the institution of a bilateral mechanism aimed toward investigating incidents of ceasefire violations alongside their shared border. The proposal, conveyed by way of diplomatic channels from the Workplace of the Prime Minister of Armenia to the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan, seeks to deal with current tensions.

The initiative follows a denial by the Armenian Protection Ministry of allegations from Azerbaijan concerning artillery hearth originating from Armenian territory. Prime Minister N. Pashinyan emphasised Armenia’s dedication to de-escalation efforts amid heightened regional tensions.

The European observer mission monitoring the Azerbaijani-Armenian border has shunned assigning blame for the ceasefire breaches.

Azerbaijan has not but responded to Yerevan’s proposal, issued towards the backdrop of current incidents. On June 21 and 22, the Ministry of Protection of Azerbaijan reported shelling from the Armenian aspect of Nakhchivan and Kelbajar district.
